Landscape as architecture
by Jose F. Costa
In first place, landscape is a men’s “construction” screen.
I like to think it as a pre-construction and a way to learn about structuring objects. Definitely, one cannot ignore the fact that the surrounding nature plays a paramount role in the way we transform the place we inhabit.
It is possible to be “in” a forest and “outside” a forest. We already have this duality without even have built anything.
It’s like being in the village or outside the village. Two completely different perspectives and feelings.
